The main objective of the Società Dante Alighieri and the vision itself of the foundation is to share the Italian language and to maintain a passion for Italian culture among foreign and Italian people around the world.

With over 400 branches worldwide, the head office in Rome was founded in 1889 on the inspiration of the great Nobel prize winning poet, Giosuè Carducci.

The Società Dante Alighieri in Brisbane was re-founded in 1952 and continues to pursue its objectives through the work of the:

  • The Dante Alighieri Society Inc.
  • The Dante Alighieri Society Inc. - School of Italian

Classes are held at the Dante Alighieri Cultural Centre, 26 Gray St, New Farm, Q 4005
